CITY MANAGER REPORT

August 12, 2008

To: Mayor and City Council members
From: Nina E. Browning, City Administrator
Report to City Council

Our Municipal Judge Karen Newsom had once again out done herself and passed the Level II Certification in her continuing effort to learn and grow in knowledge. She had to attend 20 hours of continuing education and take a test for this certification. There were only 244 Level II’s in Texas, but now there are 245.

The work on the waterline improvements on S. Walnut have begun and should be completed within 120 days.

I received an email today from TML Risk Pool stating they are pleased to announce Lower Rates and an Equity Return for the upcoming Fund Year for cities, meaning once again we should be receiving a check in April 2009. The city’s check last year in April was for $8575.00.

I want to thank the City Council for their decisions and support on working with the staff on a proposed budget for the City of Winnsboro. This proposed budget will be available for viewing in the City Secretary’s office beginning August 15 th and will be voted on at the City Council September 9 th meeting. This is for budget year 2008-09.

Vickie and I attended a great seminar last week in Tyler on agendas, minutes and meetings. It was great to find out that the way we do ours is legal and correct by State law.

Last thing; be sure to let Vickie know as soon as possible if you think you want to attend the TML 96 th Annual Conference in San Antonio this year. The dates are October 28-31, 2008.
