WINNSBORO SHOULD BE PROUD

I had the opportunity to attend the 2010 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) State Meet in Corpus Christi on Friday, March 19th. I watched a lot of young women participate but the ones from my hometown were the ones that I went to see.

Kim Mc Cleary, (Left) a senior at Winnsboro High School, and Stephanie Ramirez, a sophomore, were qualifiers for the State Meet. Kim has qualified for 3 years in a row placing 3rd,1st and 2nd in the state respectively! This was Stephanie’s first state meet and she went into it ranked 7th in the region which is quite an accomplishment!

As I watched this all day event, I was very proud of Coach Anderson, his professional attitude and the way he cheered our girls on is something people don’t see a lot of from coaches anymore. The smiles on their faces after his encouragement and support showed me that he is definitely the right man for that job and he is a credit to the Winnsboro High School staff!

Our girls were amazing to watch as well! They were all smiles as they stood and encouraged each other in their respective events. It was obvious to me that they were dedicated but not taking it too seriously, despite the pressure that they were surely under, they were still able to have a great time doing something that they enjoy doing. I was truly proud and I think Winnsboro should be proud as well.

Coach Anderson, Kim Mc Cleary and Stephanie Ramirez, did an amazing job of representing Winnsboro in Corpus Christi and our hats should be off to them all!
