Friday Night’s Shindig Show at the Cotten Pickin Theatre in Point, Texas had a whole lot of “Shakin’ Goin’ On” for the debut of Josh Davis, Elvis impersonator. He was a big hit, especially with the women in the audience. The seventeen year old “Elvis”, dressed in the King’s stylish apparel, had all the moves, smiles, and gyrations that made the audience appreciate the work that Davis has put into his act.

Long-time Elvis fans in the audience enjoyed the excitement and electricity. Singing all the tunes beloved by those who were teens fifty years ago, young Josh played well with the crowd as the ladies lined up for a kiss. He gave each one a different colored bandana as a keepsake.

In one of his acts, with a lei hanging around his neck, he did songs from the movie “Blue Hawaii”, appropriately timed for the 50th wedding anniversary of Joe Ben and Lena Cason.

By popular demand, the crowd pleaser, Josh Davis, is scheduled for a return engagement at the Cotton Pickin’ Theatre on May 1st. It will be a special attraction for “Founders’ Day”.

The music played on Saturday night during “The Texas Music Concert Series” showcased the exquisite talent of several local artists; Danny McLeroy, LD Dabbs, Joe Mac Ivy, Curtis Wayne, Geary Cason, and Dennis Cason. The mellow notes from Ivy’s sax, interchanged with the soothing sounds of the flute, blended beautifully with the melodies from the harmonica, mandolin, and 3-neck guitar of Curtis Wayne and the lead guitars of Danny McLeroy and LD Dabbs. Dennis Cason kept a steady beat as the guitars vied for the lead in some Chicago styled and Memphis styled blues music.

Next Friday, the theatre will present a Gospel Nite Jamboree that will highlight Ronnie Nalls and Carl Hall. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday night will be the much anticipated Rural American Idol Competition with support from the Shindig Band.
