Something New At City Hall

There is a new addition at City Hall in Winnsboro.

No. Not another administrator or secretary or council member. It is a kitten who has taken up residence - and taken over - at City Hall. There's just something about cats who own us instead of the other way around. A dog will go where you tell it to, not a cat.

Anyway, City Kitty, is so fully in control over there, she takes over a computer when nobody is looking and is blogging on the Winnsboro Portal Web site. I guess Anita Williams, who maintains the site, is glad to have a break from having to do all the blogs herself.

Maybe I should ask one of my cats to help me out here.

On second thought....

In her first blog, City Kitty tells the story of how she came to live at City Hall. Click HERE to read her introduction.

And not to worry. Our tax dollars are not being used to support the cat. "My tax dollars mostly," said Nina Browning, City Administrator. "I take care of her vet bills and buy most of her food, although the other girls in the office help out."

Mark from the city maintenance department found the kitten in the middle of the street on highway 515. "He stopped traffic all four ways to get her off the road," Nina said. "He took her first to the shelter, but nobody was there so he brought her here."

Nina immediately fell in love with the kitten and took her home for a few days, but then the girls at the office asked if she would bring her back. "It's been fun having her here," Nina said. "She is pretty much a Diva. All she does is play and eat and sleep. But we all enjoy watching her when she plays. It's a nice little break in a busy day."
