Memories, love, compassion and friendship. No words better describe the experiences at Camp Brave Heart, a bereavement camp for children who have lost a loved one. Children from Mt. Pleasant and the surrounding area recently gathered at Camp Brave Heart to learn how to deal with their grief, and that there are other children who have experienced similar losses. Cypress Basin Hospice staff and volunteers helped children create scrapbooks and memory stones to honor their loved one. Yes, there were tears shed but there was an abundance of fun and laughter as well. Memories made and shared, lives touched, bonds created. Campers will remember the experience of Camp Brave Heart for years to come. Cypress Basin Hospice is proud to be your local nonprofit hospice, truly committed to its goal of neighbors helping neighbors, young and old alike. Camp Brave Heart would not have been possible without your personal donation and donations from businesses in the community. We would like to thank Guaranty Bond Bank, Tumey Funeral Home, and Thomas and April Bliss for their generous donations. We would also like to thank WalMart and Super1 Foods for providing breakfast and snacks for our campers. Special thanks go out to Trinity Baptist Church, especially to Dori Kimbrough and Dawna Land, for their incredible support and assistance with Camp Brave Heart. We also thank the many others who made a financial gift or provided supplies for the Camp.
As this picture indicates, you can be a little silly while grieving. Plans are already underway for the Second Annual Camp Brave Heart. If you would like to learn more about the camp, contact Cypress Basin Hospice at 903-577-1510 or info@cbhospice.org.
