THE LEAVES OF WINNSBORO GRAND OPENING

Winnsboro now has luxury apartments for those who want all the comforts of home without the hassles of home ownership. "The Leaves of Winnsboro" owned by Janice and Peter Schma of BurtonStarProperties is located at 400 Beech Street in Winnsboro.

They offer one, two, and three bedroom apartments with many amenities and extra luxury touches. There are ceiling fans in every room, beautiful tile in the bathrooms, crown molding, nine-foot ceilings, and sturdy vinyl flooring that looks like laminate wood. It is a type of vinyl that is laid in sections like laminate, so pieces can easily be replaced if there is damage.

The kitchens come fully equipped with Frigidaire appliances in a stainless steel look that goes well with the cherry wood cabinets and dark countertops.

Cara May, pictured here on the left, is the apartment manager and she explained that Peter Schma wanted to create a rustic look with the fixtures in the bathrooms and the look of wood throughout. "He even did the numbers outside himself," she said.

Cara also manages the Featherbrook apartments in Emory that are part of BurtonStar Properties, and she is available by phone every day to take care of the needs of the occupants.

She is really happy to be working at the apartments, which she said are already about a third leased. They had some pre-opening specials that attracted some occupants, and they are continuing to offer other specials that include a refundable deposit with a year's lease.

A lot of people came for the grand opening last week to help Janice and Peter Schma celebrate the completion of work on the new apartments. Some of the guests included members of the Winnsboro Chamber of Commerce and the Mount Vernon Chamber, where they are members. So there were actually two ribbon-cutting ceremonies, one for each chamber.

Janice, pictured here wearing the red jacket, is a familiar face around Winnsboro. She is active in helping to promote Winnsboro in various ways including donating shirts to be sold to benefit the Winnsboro Fine Art Market that will be held November 7th & 8th in downtown Winnsboro.

She and her husband, who also have apartments near Emory, decided to build in Winnsboro because of the recent growth and the attractions of downtown. "We have such great restaurants and Crossroads and the art center, and that is all attracting more people to the city," she said. "And we knew some of them might like a really nice apartment to live in."
