MINEOLA STUDENT IN WASHINGTON

Congressman Jeb Hensarling (TX-05) announced that Cindy Owens, of Mineola, has been working in his Washington, D.C. office this summer as a congressional intern. Cindy’s responsibilities include assisting Congressman Hensarling with administrative and legislative needs as well as providing constituent services.

“I am very excited that Cindy was able to join my staff in Washington this year. Her dedication to service and knowledge of the 5th District has been an asset to her neighbors and residents across the 5th District. She has had the opportunity to learn valuable lessons about the legislative process through hands-on experience,” Congressman Hensarling said.

Cindy is currently a senior at Texas A&M University where she has been involved with the Traditions Council, the H.O.S.T (Helping One Student to Succeed) Mentor Program, and served as a student worker for Instructional Media Services. Cindy graduated from Mineola High School in 2009.

On her experience in Washington D.C., Cindy says that the idea of working in the Nation’s Capitol is still “surreal.” Owens, who feels she has learned a great deal, said, “I can take my new knowledge and apply it in future endeavors.”
