ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW AND PULL

The Autumn Trails Association and Lake Country Antique Tractor Association's 11th annual Tractor Show and Pull was held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Jack Cross Pavilion in Winnsboro.

Due to the rain, we had a lighter crowd than expected, with around 115 tractors exhibited or pulled. Cash awards for the pull were provided by Alexander's Tractor of Winnsboro and included "Best of Show" won by Danny Prochaska of Sulphur Springs with a Farmall Super C.

The "Showmanship" award went to B.D. McCarley Antique Tractors of Winnsboro and "Oldest Tractor" went to Willis Brummett with a 1924 McCormick Deering.

Participants pulled in farmstock and open classes 1-18 for plaques furnished by the AG Mechanics classes at Yantis High School. Pullers were able to weight up and pull for two new awards this year "Top Dog" and "Big Dog".

The "Top Dog Award" went to Steve Williams of Dike and the "Big Dog Award" went to Joe Bob Busby of Winnsboro.

Mike Banks, the primary organizer of the annual event said he was pleased with how everything went. "With the weather the way it was, we didn't know how many people would show up," he said. "And we were happy to see so many come with their tractors. We had them from Waxahachie , Athens, and Paris. And about 500 people came to watch the pulling. That was pretty good considering the rain."

Visitors got to see all the tractors and watch the competition. They were also treated to a hay baling demonstration by Mike who has an antique hay baler. He uses his old 1948 Farmall (pictured above) to pull the antique baler..
