HUNDREDS CELEBRATE FORD MODEL T CENTENNIAL AT TEXAS TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM
Local Model T Clubs to Display, Drive More than 30 Vehicles at Free, Family-Friendly Event

San Antonio, TX – In celebration of the Ford Model T’s 100th birthday, more than 30 iconic Model T vehicles will be on display and in operation at the Texas Transportation Museum on May 17 and 18. San Antonio families are invited to attend this free event as enthusiasts from the T Fords of Texas and other Model T clubs display various models from sedans and town cars, to ambulances and trucks, capturing the true essence of how the Model T really did put the world on wheels. In addition to the Model T display, Ford Motor Company will make a special presentation honoring this significant milestone.

Tourism Conference in East Texas

East Texas Tourism Association will hold its annual Tourism Conference on Tuesday, May 6 through Thursday, May 8 at LaQuinta Conference Center, Marshall, Texas. This year’s theme is “Movie Magic” and keynote speaker for Wednesday morning is Carol Pirie, Deputy Director of the Texas Film Commission. Pirie will speak on “Film Friendly Texas” the commission’s program to certify communities to effectively handle on-location productions for film and television projects.

ETTA continues to serve its mission of uniting East Texas communities in their efforts of promoting the many historical, cultural, and natural attractions East Texas has to offer to tourists and newcomers alike. For a complete schedule of events go to the organization's .Web site


CONFERENCE ON OPEN INFORMATION ACT

To be held May 16 in Longview. The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Blake Engineering
Center on the LeTourneau University campus, 2400 S. Mobberly Ave. The morning sessions are free. They include: A presentation on the Public Information Act from 9 to 10 a.m. and a presentation on the Open Meetings Act from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.

The afternoon sessions cost $40. They include: A discussion of cost rules from 1 to 2 p.m. Open government scenarios from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. A Q&A session from 3:15 to 3:55 p.m.
