FROM THE LOFT by It's time for Autumn Trails in Winnsboro, and I hope everyone will support the businesses that are sponsoring our Autumn Trails Preview page. There you can find a full schedule of events for the month of October. Autumn Trails officially kicks off with the Queen Autumn Trails Pageant, and for the first time since I have lived here I attended the pageant on Saturday, Oct 2. It was great fun and so well done. The emcee was Pastor David Rose from First Baptist Church and he did an outstanding job. I keep trying to get him on stage at the Art Center, and maybe one of these years I will succeed. I hope to have pictures and a story up by the end of the week, but for those who can't wait to know who was crowned Queen Autumn Trails, it was Jalen Safford. Second runner-up was Carlee 'CJ' Satterwhite, and first runner-up was Holly Stone. October is one of the most fun months in Winnsboro with all the Autumn Trails activities, and area business add to the fun with special events as well. There is music downtown at Double C or Brewbakers or Art & Espresso for most weekends. The weather is usually plesant and inviting, and we are all getting a bit excited anticipating fall and winter after a blistering summer. I know I am. I will be covering all the events, so this is a busy month for me as well. However, I will miss the Antique car weekend this year. I have made arrangements to go to a dude ranch for the weekend with two of my kids who like to play "cowboy" and "cowgirl." This is something I have always wanted to do, and I figured I'd better do it while I can still mount a horse. -------------- If you have comments or want to submit story ideas for Winnsborotoday.com, don't hesitate to contact me. And if you want to take pictures of an event and do a little write up, I am open to submissions. It is hard for me to try to cover everything of interest in the area, so I welcome input from readers. And keep us in mind for advertising needs. We are the best deal around for reaching the most people. Until next time...... ************* If you are interested, I do write regularly on my blog so you can always hop over there to catch up with me if I haven't updated this column in a while. I try my best, but gosh there is so much to do. |
