FROM THE LOFT

Some people say change is good. It brings new and sometimes exciting things our way. There are people who rearrange their furniture on a regular basis, just to give their homes a fresh look, and those same people probably adapt quickly to changes in the circumstances of their lives. That is probably a good quality to have.

However, there are some of us who are change-resistant. My kids joke that the only time I rearrange my furniture is when we move. Luckily for me that has only been three times in our married life.

Knowing that, you will now know why I react strongly to changes in town, especially those that involve the closing of a business. The Winnsboro Gallery is closing at the end of this month. Mary Smith, the owner, said it was not an easy decision to close and said the primary reason is the sluggish economy. She will miss the interaction with artists and customers and is considering whether she will do custom framing at home.

From now until the end of the month, Mary is having a clearance sale and everything is 30% off in the store. If there is a picture there that you have had your eye on, now is the time to pick it up.

The end of February I was at the Take 190 West Art Festival in Killeen and it was a great experience. I had such a good time mixing and mingling with artists and authors and all the people who came to meet us. I shared some of my experience on my blog that you can read HERE If you have a minute, go on over and meet The Crayon Man, an amazing artist who uses Crayola crayons to create some awesome pictures.

Despite the fact that I was gone for over a week and did not update WinnsboroToday.com, our hits had another surge and have remained a little higher than usual for the first days of March. If I had the time and expertise to do the research, I'm sure I could dig around the stats and find out where the hits are coming from and what prompts the periodic surges. However, I have neither time nor expertise. So I will just be happy with the results and not concern myself with the "why".

If you have comments or want to submit story ideas for Winnsborotoday.com, don't hesitate to contact me. And if you want to take pictures of an event and do a little write up, I am open to submissions. It is hard for me to try to cover everything of interest in the area, so I welcome input from readers.

And keep us in mind for advertising needs. We are the best deal around for reaching the most people.

Until next time......
