FROM THE LOFT by
This weekend we were all surprised with a winter storm. Well, some of us were surprised. A few farmers said, "I told you so." Despite the blowing snow, however, my hubby and I drove down to see Daddy's Dyin' Who's Got the Will? at the Lindale Community Theatre. It was a great show and I highly recommend you go to see it this coming weekend. Times, etc, are on the Web site. We went down to see Winnsboro actress, Mia Tallant, but I also wanted to see a different staging of the show I had been in in Sulphur Springs. It was kind of weird to be in the audience and watch someone else play Mama Wheelis, but it was also interesting to see how we had played some things the same. There were differences, too, and at times I thought Jean Pines got a moment better than I had, but for the most part our interpretation of the character was pretty close. I took that as a compliment since Jean has been a professional on stage and before a camera, and I am so new at being on stage. It was also wonderful to see the show on a full stage. Amazing what a difference that can make. I remember feeling so cramped sometimes on the Sulphur Springs stage and that one is bigger than the one at the Winnsboro Art Center. We've managed to do some good productions at the Center, despite the space constraints, but imagine what we could do with a full stage and production support. -------------- If you have comments or want to submit story ideas for Winnsborotoday.com, don't hesitate to contact me. And if you want to take pictures of an event and do a little write up, I am open to submissions. It is hard for me to try to cover everything of interest in the area, so I welcome input from readers. And keep us in mind for advertising needs. We are the best deal around for reaching the most people. Until next time...... ************* If you are interested, I do write regularly on my blog so you can always hop over there to catch up with me if I haven't updated this column in a while. I try my best, but gosh there is so much to do. |
