FROM THE LOFT

As I write this we in East Texas are not so eagerly awaiting a second snowfall. One is a rarity and two within two weeks of each other is almost unheard of.

The storm earlier this month created a lot of inconvenince for a lot of folks. We were lucky and were not without power for too long, others had to wait days to get power restored. We weren't so lucky, however, when it came to trees down. It was an equal-opportunity snowstorm for me as I had a tree come down on my back fence and my front fence. I also had lots of branches come down, and most of them are still littering my property. I had the good folks at McCrary's sharpen my chainsaws and get them ready for my son to use when he comes next week to help me clear the rest of the mess. I'm only hoping this storm that is supposed to hit later today doesn't bring more trees down.

On another note, I am getting ready to go to Killeen for the Take 190 West Art Festival. The folks who organize that were kind enough to invite me to attend and do a signing event for my book, One Small Victory. I am really looking forward to mingling with all kinds of artists, as sharing in that creative spirit is so invigorating.

The festival, which takes place Saturday, February 27th, is open to the public. There are a number of other authors who will be there, in addition to the wonderful artists who will showcase their work. It should be a fun day, and Killeen is close enough that it could be a day trip for many.

If you have comments or want to submit story ideas for Winnsborotoday.com, don't hesitate to contact me. And if you want to take pictures of an event and do a little write up, I am open to submissions. It is hard for me to try to cover everything of interest in the area, so I welcome input from readers.

Until next time......
