Voters Say 'NO' to Groundwater District
On Saturday, February 1st citizens in Wood Country exercised their right
to choose by going to the polls to vote on the proposal to form a groundwater
conservation district in the county. Here are the results of that election:
Total votes cast 5,505(includes early votes)
Proposition #1: Creation of the Lake Country Groundwater Conservation
District.
For - 689 Against - 4789
Proposition #2: Levy of tax of up to 3 cents per $100.00
For - 689 Against - 4617
For the Director's positions the votes were as follows:
Director Pct.#1: Tommy Brady - 855 W. Benton Bryant - 201.
Director Pct.#2: James Carter - 162 Doyle Cain - 546.
Director Pct.#3: Glenn Morton - 516 Frances Delk - 701.
Director Pct.#4: Louis Pyle - 176 Dr. Wayne Gore - 926.
Director at large: A.D. Kleinman - 1041 Juan D. Nichols - 2962.
