Goblins and Ghosts and Witches
by Maryann Miller

The annual Halloween costume contest sponsored by Brookshire's was a huge success despite the cold weather. Mike Clark, Store Manager, said the turnout was less than other years, but plenty of children turned out to vie for prizes with proud parents and grandparents shivering in the cold to cheer them on.

It could have almost been a trip to Oz. Dorothy was there with a lion and several scarecrows. The only one missing was the Tin Man. The costumes were all outstanding - families worked very hard - and the judges had quite a challenge to come up with the top winners.

Small prizes and candy were given to all entrants with special prizes in the various age categories. And the winners were:

Age 2 and under
First place - Kendal McAdoo - Sunflower
Second place- Madison Duncan - 'Dorothy'
Third place - Nathan Underwood - Lego Baby

First place- Ethan Baxter - Clown on a Tricycle
Second place- Jacob Underwood - Scarecrow
Third place - Hugo Garcia - Scarecrow (with orange hat)

Third place - Kaela Martin - Indian Maiden

Age 8-11
