Insanity at the Pentagon
by Michelle Malkin
If
Osama bin Laden snuck into our country illegally, bought fake immigration
papers and changed his name to Osmundo Ben Ladeno, could he join the U.S.
military?
You betcha!
Last week,
the Army announced that Pvt. Juan Escalante, a 19-year-old illegal alien
from Mexico who had used a $50 bogus green card to enlist, would be allowed
to remain in the armed forces. Wait, there's even more good news for ID
fakers looking to infiltrate the military...
Does
Abortion Increase Breast Cancer? The Debate Heats Up
All
of a sudden, the relation of abortion to breast cancer is back in the
limelight. After a number of years of slowly increasing acceptance of
the relationship of induced abortion to breast cancer, the American Cancer
Institute has, in effect, thrown down the gauntlet. On its website, it
had admitted that there might be a relationship but, in late February,
a major meeting of "scientists" denied this. Until recently,
the National Cancer Institute's website had said that there was no evidence
linking abortion and breast cancer. In late November, however, it revised
its website to say, "the evidence is inconclusive." Then came
this workshop. By a vote of 99 to 1, the attendees claimed that scientific
evidence does not support the notion that having an abortion increases
a woman's risk of breast cancer later in life...
Dramatic
Breakthroughs Using Adult Stem Cells
If
you begin to hear less about the miraculous potential for healing mankind
through embryonic stem cell treatment, there is good reason. To date,
there have been no scientific breakthroughs in embryonic stem cell research
providing even one practical application to helping humans. Adult stem
cell research, on the other hand, has experienced considerable success.
Here are two dramatic examples that could very likely have a profound
impact on the treatment of injured and sick individuals.
"Choose
Life" License Plate Catching On
When
one man decided to create a Choose Life specialty license plate for Florida,
he didn't know it would catch on in such a big way. In 1996, Randy Harris,
County Commissioner in Marion County, Ocala, FL saw the need for funds
to help pregnant women. He wanted to give assistance to those desiring
to place their baby with an adoptive family, instead of aborting the child.
The Choose Life license plate idea was born. Now, seven years later, the
idea is catching on in states around the country.
HPV
Incidence in University Women
About
40 of the more than 100 types of human papillomavirus (HPV) cause genital
infections; 18 of these 40 were recently defined as being high risk types
for cervical cancer (N Engl J Med. 2003; 348: 518-527)...
Global
Warming
While
OReilly is supportive of the Bush administration in many areas,
especially its anti-terrorism and Iraq policies, he has resorted to cheap
shots over its handling of environmental matters. Most everybody,
with the possible exception of some in the Bush cabinet, wants a clean
environment, OReilly has written. He accepts the theory that
human beings are causing global warming through the discharge of fossil
fuels and he joined the anti-sport-utility-vehicle campaign launched by
Arianna Huffington, Hollywood liberals and environmental activists. Bills
with us on this issue, said Hollywood producer Lawrence Bender...
Media-Fed
Protests Demoralized Troops
In
the face of a virtual national media blackout, patriotic rallies drawing
tens of thousands of people were held in several cities as the U.S. prepared
for war with Iraq. But the anti-war demonstrations organized
by communist enemies of America and demoralizing to American troops were
still getting most of the press attention...

Who's Paying the Tax Bill
Over
the past decade or so, fewer and fewer Americans have been paying income
taxes and fewer still a significant percentage of income in taxes. Those
being squeezed are the nation's top earners.
* In 1999,
Americans with incomes above half a million dollars constituted 0.5% of
taxpayers but accounted for 28% of total tax revenue.
* That means that only 553,380 taxpayers were responsible for more than
one-quarter of the total income tax take of $877 billion.
* In 2000, people with adjusted gross incomes of $128,336 or higher were
responsible for 56% of tax take.
* The top 50% of taxpayers coughed up 96% of the total tax take that year...
The
Medical Institute for Sexual Health Applauds New CDC Guidelines on HIV/AIDS
Prevention
AUSTIN,
TX (April 17, 2003) -- The Medical Institute for Sexual Health today enthusiastically
applauded the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention new guidelines
on HIV/AIDS prevention. The organization released this statement by Joe
S. McIlhaney, M.D., president and founder:
"Over
the last 20 years, 800,000 Americans have been infected with HIV and almost
half a million Americans have died of AIDS. A quarter or more of infected
persons are unaware of their infections. Given the benefits of early diagnosis
and treatment, and the risks of unintentionally infecting their partners
or newborns, it is important for all infected persons to know their status."
First
public hearing of the
National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
My
name is Mindy Kleinberg. My husband Alan Kleinberg, 39 yrs old, was killed
in the WTC on September 11, 2001. As I testify here today about the 9/11
attacks, I will begin by saying that my thoughts are very much with the
men and women who are involved in armed conflict overseas and their families
who wait patiently for them to return.
This war is
being fought on two fronts, overseas as well as here on our shores; this
means that we are all soldiers in this fight against terrorism. As the
threat of terrorism mounts here in the United States, the need to address
the failures of September 11 is more important than ever. It is an essential
part of "lessons learned"...
Did
you know...?
Presently,
the "family planning" program receives funds at $85,000,000
per year, including Planned Parenthood and other organizations that promote
abortion. While those funds are not used to actually provider abortions,
Planned Parenthood and other providers use those dollars to refer pregnant
women for abortions...

round a makeshift stage they charged on.
Fifteen hundred or more they say,

Child
Predators
For several
months Life Dynamics has been conducting an investigation into the issue
of teen pregnancy. What we have found can only be described as sickening.
Underage girls, some as young as 10 years old, are being sexually exploited
by adult men in numbers that are unprecedented in American history...
Understanding
"Tax Cuts"
This
is a very simple way to understand the tax laws. Let's put tax cuts in
terms everyone can understand.
Suppose that
every day, then men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten totals $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
like this:
The first four
men - the poorest - would pay nothing, the fifth would pay $1, the sixth
would pay $3, the seventh $7, the eighth $12, the ninth $18, and the tenth
man - the richest - would pay $59...
Walking
in Victory
It
was a cold day in January 1997 when Eddie Baiseri decided to get serious
with God. Only six years earlier her life had been much like everyone
else's. She was a woman with a home, a family, and a career in accounting
... typical ... average.
Average, that
is, until her marriage disintegrated and her world started to fall apart.
Her divorce in 1991 triggered a series of bad choices that would take
her down a dangerous road leading to brokenness and despair...
Where
Has the MSA Money Gone?
State
and federal governments have an unprecedented amount of money available
to them to reduce youth smoking, through payments from the Master Settlement
Agreement (MSA) and other similar settlements. These settlements give
states up to $246 billion from tobacco companies over a 25-year period
that can be used to support anti-smoking efforts. Future annual payments,
based upon inflation and cigarette sales, will continue into perpetuity...

Unborn
Baby Finally Laid to Rest
Sublette, Kansas
is a sleepy little town in the Southwest corner of the state that boasts
only 1,500 people know their neighbors and mailmen- a bastion of down-to-earth,
pro-life people, right? Well, not everyone is pro-life.
In 1994, Sharon
and Vaughn Lower aquired a plot in the Haskell County Cemetery. The land
was purchased with their own personal funds. They and others held a Mexican
food sale to raise money for a beautiful headstone that read In
Loving Memory Of All Unborn Babies.

Time To Revive An Old Tradition And Bring Back The War-Service Flag
During the
World Wars, the war-service flag was a staple in America. A white rectangle
framed in red with a blue star for each family member in the service,
this simple banner hung in windows of homes across the country to show
a family's pride in their service member...

Each year I
am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class from Clinton,
Wl, where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting
our nation's capital, and each year I take some special memories back
with me. This fall's trip was especially memorable...

Warming Computer Models Flawed
Computer Software
models have been used to support many claims that earth is warming. Recently,
scientists at the Amundsen-Scott research station at the South Pole have
found that the atmosphere over the pole is 20 to 30 degrees Celcius colder
than computer models have shown...
